Effective 1st September 2025, Singapore will enforce stiffer penalties for vaping offences. Travelers, including tourists and foreign nationals, found vaping or in possession of vaping products may face fines, deportation, passport revocation, and re-entry bans. To ensure the safety of our ground employees, we remind passengers that checked baggage must not exceed 32kg per piece, regardless of travel class. For baggage over this limit, please split it into smaller pieces, each not exceeding 32kg.

Passengers with single names on their travel documents, where there is no clear distinction between first and last names (e.g., "Sonam"), are not allowed to travel to Dubai. These passengers may be denied check-in or risk deportation upon arrival.

Drukair Hosts Pre-Launch Event in Guwahati to Expand Regional Connectivity via Northeast India

Drukair, Royal Bhutan Airlines, in collaboration with the Department of Tourism, Changi Airport Group and Global Aviation Services Pvt.Ltd., hosted a pre-launch event in Guwahati to mark the upcoming expansion of its regional network via Guwahati, with the reintroduction of twice-weekly Bangkok flights via Guwahati and the addition of a third weekly frequency to Singapore via Guwahati, with flight services scheduled to commence in April 2026.

The event highlighted the airline’s plans to strengthen connectivity between Bhutan, Northeast India, and key Southeast Asian destinations. The ceremony was graced by Yab Dasho Dhondup Gyaltshen and Yum Sonam Chuki. The Honourable Member of Parliament, Shri Bhubaneswar Kalita, attended as the Guest of Honour from the Government of Assam. Also present were Shri Diganta Borah, Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Assam, and Shri Kailash, Additional Chief Secretary, along with the Secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, the DHI CEO, the Director General of BCAA, and members of the Drukair Board of Directors.

Representatives from Bhutanese delegations, including the Association of Bhutanese Tour Operators (ABTO), Hotel and Restaurant Association of Bhutan (HRAB), and the Guide Association of Bhutan (GAB), were also in attendance. The event further welcomed members of the Assam travel trade industry and media, reflecting the growing collaboration between Bhutan and Northeast India in tourism and aviation.

The event commenced with a ceremonial cake-cutting and lighting of a lamp, symbolizing the strengthening of regional air connectivity and the upcoming launch of the expanded services through Guwahati. This was followed by presentations highlighting the significance of the connectivity, tourism opportunities, and the growing role of Guwahati as a strategic transit hub linking Bhutan with Southeast Asia.

The event concluded with a raffle draw and networking lunch, bringing together stakeholders from aviation, tourism, and government sectors to celebrate the growing partnership and future travel opportunities between Bhutan, Assam, and the wider region.
